Positivity Conjectures for Kazhdan-lusztig Theory on Twisted Involutions: the Universal Case

چکیده

Let (W,S) be a Coxeter system and let w → w∗ be an involution of W which preserves the set of simple generators S. Lusztig and Vogan have recently shown that the set of twisted involutions (i.e., elements w ∈ W with w−1 = w∗) naturally generates a module of the Hecke algebra of (W,S) with two distinguished bases. The transition matrix between these bases defines a family of polynomials Pσ y,w which one can view as “twisted” analogues of the much-studied Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials of (W,S). The polynomials Pσ y,w can have negative coefficients, but display several conjectural positivity properties of interest. This paper reviews Lusztig’s construction and then proves three such positivity properties for Coxeter systems which are universal (i.e., having no braids relations), generalizing previous work of Dyer. Our methods are entirely combinatorial and elementary, in contrast to the geometric arguments employed by Lusztig and Vogan to prove similar positivity conjectures for crystallographic Coxeter systems.

Positivity results for Stanley’s character polynomials

In Stanley [16], the author introduces expressions for the normalized characters of the symmetric group and states some positivity conjectures for these expressions. Here, we give an affirmative partial answer to Stanley’s positivity conjectures about the expressions using results on Kerov polynomials. In particular, we use new positivity results in Goulden and Rattan [7]. We shall see that the...

M ay 2 00 8 Leading coefficients of the Kazhdan - Lusztig polynomials for an Affine Weyl group of type

In this paper we compute the leading coefficients μ(y,w) of the Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials Py,w for an affineWeyl group of type B̃2. When a(y) ≤ a(w) or a(y) = 2 and a(w) = 1, we compute all μ(y,w) clearly, where a(y) is the a-function of a Coxeter group defined by Lusztig (see [L1]). With these values μ(y,w), we are able to show that a conjecture of Lusztig on distinguished involutions is true...

Proof of Two Conjectures of Brenti and Simion on Kazhdan-Lusztig Polynomials

We find an explicit formula for the Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials Pui,a ,vi of the symmetric group S(n) where, for a, i, n ∈ N such that 1 ≤ a ≤ i ≤ n, we denote by ui,a = sasa+1 · · · si−1 and by vi the element ofS(n) obtained by inserting n in position i in any permutation ofS(n −1) allowed to rise only in the first and in the last place. Our result implies, in particular, the validity of two c...

Brundan-kazhdan-lusztig and Super Duality Conjectures

We formulate a general super duality conjecture on connections between parabolic categories O of modules over Lie superalgebras and Lie algebras of type A, based on a Fock space formalism of their Kazhdan-Lusztig theories which was initiated by Brundan. We show that the Brundan-Kazhdan-Lusztig (BKL) polynomials for gl(m|n) in our parabolic setup can be identified with the usual parabolic Kazhda...

Composition Kostka functions

Macdonald defined two-parameter Kostka functions Kλμ(q, t) where λ, μ are partitions. The main purpose of this paper is to extend his definition to include all compositions as indices. Following Macdonald, we conjecture that also these more general Kostka functions are polynomials in q and t with non-negative integers as coefficients. If q = 0 then our Kostka functions are Kazhdan-Lusztig polyn...
